Default BASF Glasurit paint

Getting quotes to paint my 2000 coupe and one shop is promoting that they use the BASF Glasurit paint system. I am no expert at all on paint so asking here for some input. Anyone know about his paint or have any experience with it. Thanks for any information.

It is good paint...I have shot it...I chose not to use this make of paint in my shop...I went with PPG...then switched to ICI which is now NEXA.

I can not comment any further on Glasurit... Because it has been a long time since I shot it and I am sure new products have been added to the line.

Look a the shops work and ask about paint warranty. Because when it comes down to it...there are MANY paints out there who's paint does not cost as much as the major paint companies....and if it is applied correctly and with enough film thickness...It would be hard for anyone to tell what paint manufacturer brand was used on your car.

I agree that the finish will only be as good as the skill of the painter and their techniques including the prep work beforehand. I was just wondering if any particular paint or sysytem would have an inherent advantage over another. Thanks for the insight.

All I can write---so I do not upset some people---is that make sure that the materials you use ...or have used are able to be catalyzed. Now I know that some basecoats do not get activated with a hardener...so exclude that...but primers, sealers and clear coats need to be able to be activated with a hardener.

Many of the new paint companies that are small and not well know are started by chemists who have worked for a BIG company. Something to think about...instead of buying into a "name brand" where marketing is serving its purpose.

Often times it can be that you might not be able to get a particular product for the same reason in your town at this time...and it may take some time for that product you choose to get to your town.

I would like to suggest you that you should install some kind of graphics work or wrapping instead of using simple paint.... There are lots of verity available in the market which provide all kind of solutions related to painted graphics even in a single color.

I use Glasurit 55 line, very happy with it. I also like Spies Hecker(Dupont) both lines are catalyzed primers and clearcoars.
