I am painting my license plates and used the only single stage urethane paint (low VOC) here in California. It is Limco brand. I mixed it as per proportions of paint, reducer and catalyst. It has been 1 week and the surface is sticky and touching it leaves a fingerprint. I have had it in the 80+ degree sun for a couple days and it has not helped. Any suggestions? I hate to put another coat over soft uncured paint.
If it was MIXED CORRECTLY....and you know for a fact you mixed it correctly.. then you have encountered a bad batch of catalyst. I would call them and talk to them and get more material....hopefully they will warranty it. It should not take that long to cure. DO NOT apply any more material on this paint...you will only compound the problem. You may have to strip it and start over. Take these parts to the place you bought the material from...along with what you mixed it in...and the product. The area rep can handle this.
Thank you Dub and Porchdog for your quick replies on a holiday weekend! The plate is being stripped for the 5th time at least, as I type. I am not ruling out "operator error". Being that this is a holiday weekend and no place is open, I thought I would spray a panel and check the results. The advise from both of you is appreciated. Enjoy your long weekend.

as long as i have been painting i still read the can every time . never know when a senior moment might happen .
Just put epoxy primer on. Had the "recipe" in front of me and read it twice. I am of the age that senior moments unfortunately are expected.
Thanks again to you two.
Resprayed the plate and decided on using my new Sata 3000RP gun. Big overkill for the project but it laid down the paint very well. I upped the catalyst just a bit and all is well. My suspicion of operator error seems to be confirmed. Thanks again you all.
