Default 1989 windshield replacement

I hope this is right section

I have to replace windshield and want to know if the trim around the windshield, which looks like its plastic or metal, can be reused by professional installer or do I have to buy new. It's appears to be very costly

YES...I APPLAUD you...this is the RIGHT SECTION.

If it is CAREFULLY removed it can be re-used. Also..be aware that there is a thin plastic piece that is attached to the underside of these moldings so it protects the edge of the windshield. AND.....there is a closed cell foam tape that is also applied to the backside of these moldings. When I replace the foam tape...I use the truck bed camper seal foam tape.

I also apply this same truck bed foam tape on the backside of the weatherstrip track for the pillars also.

Whatever you do...do not let the installer pump urethane in and slap on your moldings instead of using the correct tape. You will regret it if they do.
