Default C4 door hinges

I have been thinking how I want to handle my door hinges.

Problem is I had Factory Paint failure on this car.

I have stripped it all down and continuing the work.

Anyway I was thinking of stripping these and then epoxy then bolting the doors back up and gap everything then repaint with the doors mounted just like the factory did it.

So paint stripper? bead blast? what have some of you done?

Really the big reason I'm going this far is the paint was pealing in spots and want to have a good base for the new paint. So I have stripped the entire car of all bad paint.

The hinges are the last thing I need to address with original paint on them. Other than the urethane parts.

Thanks
johnny

Johnny,
I have painted numerous 1984-1996 Corvettes.

YES...I chemically strip the hinges as long as they show no signs of rust.

YES..I epoxy prime the hinges also.

I have a unique process in painting the car....depending on if it is a metallic color or solid color. Meaning what I paint first and so on.... and how it is masked off.

So I do not have to type it all out....if you PM me....I will be more than glad to talk with you about this and get it all covered in a short phone conversation on what works for me...and thus...you can make a decision form that. The choice is yours.

Obviously ...other members can comment and let you know what they have done and their process if they choose to do so.
