Default Estimate on bumper repair

I don't know much about body work. My C4 bumper got scratched up. Can I get some guesstimates on how much this will cost to repair? Some of the scratches are beneath the surface. Can these be properly repaired will fillers? TIA.

Questions are going to be asked...but there is a reason for them and I am NOT being 'nosey'.

DID you do the damage?? or someone else??

And if someone else did this damage. Is an insurance claim being involved or are they paying for it out of pocket???

Kinda hinges on the answers to the above questions and WHAT you are willing to live with. There are numerous ways to repair a damaged area....some much better than others and this generally causes for more time to be spent on the repair and thus...more money.

From what I can see the scratches that are beneath the surface might be minor enough for them to be either sanded out and primed in (because I can not see the raw urethane color showing) and NO filler needing to be applied. And this is only going off of what I can see.

What 'scares' me more is those fine stress cracks.

I can tell the color is a dark green....and how the bumper cover is repaired and painted is determined on ...as I wrote above..."what you are willing to live with".

And by writing....."what you are willing to live with". I mean in regards to color match....and if you will live with a blend line in the clear..... that IN TIME...will show up again. UNLESS the entire rear bumper cover is PROPERLY PREPPED an clearcoated when the color is being applied.

Someone else did the damage and I thought it would be > $1000 and felt bad for the guy. The car body is not in perfect condition in other spots. This actually happened in my mechanics parking area. The mechanic got me an estimate of $500 from someone he uses. I got one yesterday from someone else for $600 and that included taking the bumper off. So I guess that's the proper range and my guess was high.

The guy did the damage so he should pay for it. But do I make him pay top dollar or a medium price.

BTW - Color is black. Green is from reflections of the nearby trees. But even black fades and I doubt it could be blended to match. OTOH - a new painted bumper will stand out vs the rest of the somewhat faded black.

re: stress cracks. Very interesting that those show up so strong in the picture. I can't even find them on the car even knowing exactly where they are from the picture!
