Getting ready for paint but need to fix drivers door gap at front, beltline and up.Is it best to glass it on the fender or door? Its a 76 but the door is off an 80 and the curve on the door seems diff than the orginal76.Any pics on this procedure? Thanks

I'd like to see the door gap procedure as well. A primer on how to prepare the edges, what product to use (VPA, glass, etc.), tools and techniques.
Thanks for the photo...but for what it is worth..because it is a great photo...taking another one from a few feet back so I can see the whole picture would also be helpful.
It appears from the photo that you are only needing to build out approximately 1/8"...which is NOT a problem.
VPA will do this without any concerns.
You WILL need to get that yellow paint and any other primers OFF the panel before you do this. because you are building out on the front clip and NOT the door. And this is I can only assume that they DID NOT sand back on the door edge. You need to actually look at this area and verify that the steel inner structure of the door frame is actually set back from the edge of the door outer panel.
If you wan to know my method of repairing this....you will need to PM me so I can get you my shop number and we can talk. Typing out the procedure is something that I am not going to do..it would take WAY too long ...versus a phone call will not.
There is going to be a very HIGH probability that the door will have to come back off. I can explain why...... if and when we talk.
You explained it very well. It was actually easier than I thought it would be!Just time consuming.Removing an upper door hinge shim was way harder! Thanks again DUB!

Looks great!
Kinda looked like all it needed was to raise the front of the door instead of drastic glass work. Did you try that first?
I wished it was that easy. The top of the gap was tight so the door wasn't going anywhere. The fender and door I had to replace(different yrs) due to crash and the lines just didn't match good. Also no drastic glass work there all VPA . Like I stated earlier ,w/DUB's instruction it was pretty easy.

YEAH...I wish it were that easy. The top horizontal edge where the outer seals and trim attaches to the door is level with the top horizontal surface of the top hood surround....and I bet the lower front corner of the door is correctly level to the front fender....thus....the door is where it needs to be and the gap must be filled.
Once again...you did a really nice job on the gap.
