Looks good. No matter how well a person thinks they laid the clear...sanding it shows how far off of 'slick as glass' they actually were. Hopefully it buffs out to what you expect. This should look really good when done and polished.

I could never grasp the need for using tape while sanding my clear. I guess after 30 years of doing it a way that works...hard to use it.

I do use tape on edges of panels that are not flush when I am buffing out Corvettes that I did not do body work on. I do not sue tape on my body work I painted due to keeping in mind which way my buffing pad is rotating...there is no way to take paint off an edge.

Just finished today all but the flip lid (which I will complete today) and the hardtop. Progression was wet with #1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and then a #3000 Trizact pad. So far, so good. Will bring out to sit in the sun tomorrow, start on the hardtop and start buffing Tuesday.

Ps, I know the photos aren't great but

There is a lot of work done there. And people wonder why paint jobs cost what they do. Keep it up.

The 1000 scratches should be out, I did 1500, 2000, 2500 and a 3000 pad after them. I'll start with Chemical guys V34.

Just went over it again with 3K and a running hose. Sometimes you just have to quit when you think you're ahead. A couple of areas (I know the're there ) I might want to address might get me in trouble. For instance, a gnat decided to reside eternally in the middle of the right rear quarter panel. I know I have ALOT of clear there but question is is he under the 1st or the 4th coat? I tend to think he is near the top but after going over him with #2500, the little bastard is still there. Maybe I did cut a leg or 2 off and he isn't too noticeable and maybe the V34 will take him out. I may start him out with V32 which I normally don't use.

skipping 32 is like skipping 2000 . when i'm done with 3k i dont see any sand marks. hit the worst looking spot with 32 on orange pad to check.

leave the bug alone !!!!!!!!!

Isn't V32 an agressive compound? I thought 32 was for those who only sanded to #1500. My progression has been 34 Orange, 36 Pink, 38 White and Glossworkz Black.
Ok, I'll let the bug RIP

it's like starting to sand with 2000. the harder you buff the more heat you produce. never skip grits it just makes the next one harder .
