Default Clear bad?

Did a couple really really tiny touch ups to chips with the factory paint pen and used the clear brush to seal afterwards. Had a buddy come by and suggest using compound to smooth over the clear spots for a perfect finish. Did this and now I have scratchy clear spots on my hood cuz it cut into the clear. 4-5 finger print sized spots of scratchy round spots where the compound was rubbed in a circle and cut into the clear.

Ill get a pic in a few hours when im
back home. Really hope I can get this corrected without painting my hood. Sad thing is that I have a McGuiars buffer and all 3 steps of Collinite and should have known better.

Shoukd have just left it the hell alone. Beers n buddies can get expensive when you decide to tinker.

YEP...knowing better and having someone tell you who does not know what they are talking about ( especially when 'liquid courage' is involved) can be a dangerous combination.

It might be able to be saved.

Generally a chip the size of fingerprint is quite large and expecting a perfect result is somewhat hard to do.

I will wait for your photos.

i just finished buffing it out in 3 stages and evening the clear. It is 95% gone now. The chips were the size of the head of a pin. The clear that was rubbed around the chips were fingerprint sized cuz the compound was used on a microfiber cloth and a fingertip in a circular motion.

No more beer while doing anything on the car that involves thinking. Actually, the mental illness set in on us when I put the bottle of Gentlemen Jack on the bench in my garage LOL

Glad that it seems to come out to your liking.

***Off subject***
Every once and a while I go with a friend to another guys house where the guys will gather in the garage and talk car stuff. A few of them know what I do for a living. but sometimes one of the other guys will start giving advice and it is so far off base and far from reality....that those that know me....look at me to see my reaction to the comments/advice that person is giving someone. It sometimes almost gets into a verbal testosterone battle. When the smoke clears...it is clearly understood that the advice I am giving is what will work...because I do not want any friend of my friend to have a problem.
