Default Carbon Inlay Option C7?

My understanding is that the hood on all ZO6 (and Stingray's?) cars are carbon fiber. The optional exposed inlay is a $1995 option and I'm curious about how that is done versus the regular non-inlay? I notice on my ZO6 with the option that there is a "lip" or indention where the inlay and the regular part of the hood meet. Why?

I guess the lip is so the inlay can always be installed correctly and makes it 'idiot-proof' when it comes to installing it. No guessing...put it where it belongs.

Without any photos...hard to comment any further.

are you talking about the line at where the exposed carbon meets the color of the car ?
