Rust removal from painted surface.....
This may be a little off topic because corvette bodies are of course fiberglass so rust there isn't an issue, but I thought it might help on other things. I have an old 7UP machine that I'm working on and didn't want to have to paint it. I was just looking to clean it up and remove some of the rust without taking all the paint and logos off. I used a prep & etch product that contains phosphoric acid and it turned out pretty well for an almost 60 years old machine.

Here is the product I used....This gallon jug was bought about 4 years ago so I'm not sure if they still sell the same version as this or not and I also do not know if it loses strength over time. I first cleaned it with soap and water and let it dry....It works better on flat surfaces....I just sprayed it on, make sure to coat the entire surface...I used gloves and spread it around.... I used a rag to wipe it down after it set for awhile... It takes 10 to 15 minutes and areas like the small door with the glass window took 3 or 4 cleanings. Watch the fumes.
