Welcome to the forum, Jon!
Sorry about the "injury" to your top. I'm not a body worker so I can't offer any good advice, but you may want to post your question in the paint/body section https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/paint-body-138/of the forum at:
Good luck with hopefully a simple fix.

This is not making any sense. SMC rarely 'dents'.

IF it did 'dent' as you stated...then I am guessing that the structure was damaged....becasue the SMC is now not being able to relax back into position. So now it fall more in line with being a pressure buckle.

So...a very very good photo of what you are referring to can aid me in being able to advise you.

Sometimes putting it in the sun will allow 'things' to move a bit...especially if it is not under any tension.
