Those LGM cams just dont dyno good at Mike's shop.

Me and a friend had G5X-2 cams installed in our cars (01 coupe and 01 Z06) and didn't get the numbers we had hoped for and seen from so many others. My numbers and mods are in my sig.

Mike is a great guy and will definately take care of you. Whenever I made it to Fla, he would fit me in and take care of me.

Mike I sent you an e-mail regarding some future mods.

It's not that you made a bad cam choice, it's that you don't have the proper spec sheet available to check the grinding and installation work. With the sheet, you could just remove a valve cover, install a degree wheel and dial indicator, and check everything.

Without the specs, everything is great until your car doesn't dyno well, then you could be in trouble. Maybe LG will give you the specs once they understand your situation, they seem like they usually take care of their customers.

I think your torque numbers are on the low side, but your hp doesn't seem to be that far off.....

It just goes to show that modding isn't as easy as everyone on the board seems to think. My first H/C package highly disappointed me.....

I'm currently running w/ MTI Stage II E heads and MTI G1 cam.... 402 rwhp and 380 tq on my vert M6. So many variables are involved that it is hard to track down. I thought my first cam was off in the install and it wasn't the case......

Good luck w/ your mods.....

Everyone,
I spoke to Mike Norris and I will be dropping my car off this weekend so that Mike can take a look at it on Monday. I will keep everyone posted. This post has gotten some good responses as to what could be keeping my numbers low compared to other 02 ZO6's with the same identical mods.

You require more compression with a cam that big.

LGM takes AFR's down to 59cc and flycuts for 11:1 with that cam dude.

Hey All,

Quick update as we recieved Tom's car here over the weekend. We pulled the front cover and the cam timing was right. Next we checked the valve springs to see if maybe it had a broken inner, but all were okay.

While we have had the car, she started fine each time, but seemed to crank slowly at times. Didn't really think anyhting of it until it finally just would not start. Tried to jump start the car and charge the battery and it would not take a charge or start. We figured it was a shorted battery and swapped in a known good one and she reacted great. Got back on the dyno and she put down 419RWHP and 390RWT after a few pulls. All I can figure is that the battery has a shorted cell and low voltage causing low spark output and therefore low power gains.

So now we are putting an Optima redtop in there and it should take care of everything I believe. Odd situation for sure, but this is about all I can come up with as an "educated guess" at this point.

Later,

Mike Norris

After my battery problem came to light and the car re-dynoed I will have to disagree. I feel my dyno of 419RWHP and 390 RWTQ are right on for what I have on my car right now.

Another happy customer! I picked up my car last night, and I was absolutely floored about the added power. Mike worked very hard to find the cause of my low numbers. Going home I averaged 30.4 MPG from Orlando to Tampa until I hit stop and go traffic. The car never stalled or surged in about 45 minutes of this stop and go traffic. So that just goes to show you that you can have high performance and still have great mileage! I would highly recommend Mike. He is a stand up guy would takes customer service very seriously. His new shop is first class and you can eat off his floors it is so clean and organized.
Thanks again Mike for all of your effort,
Tom Vida

Congrats on getting the car all figured out.
Glad it was something that eventually showed itself.
I never would have thought a bad battery would cause something such as this.

Hopefully I can get my car to Mikes shop for the AFR install soon.
Waiting to hear back from him.
