just added a stealth cam, tuner says manifolds are hurtin my performance. has any other cam user had this happen. my car has ls6 intake & 220 cam & 2:73 gears 12.88 @ 108 mph. ran better with predator & stock cam 12.84 @ 108 mph.
Not sure what the Stealth cam does for the power curve, but between that and the intake you have shifted the curve upward in RPM and likely lost some low end. I would say a converter and gears are a better way to go forward than headers at this point.
Hi, I have a 2000 coupe and in the process of adding more power.
Since I'm located in cal I need to retain a stock apparent.
I decided to go with the 2001+exhaust manifolds and Z06 h pipe.
If a Z06 can make 400+hp then the exhaust system is not that restrictive.
With the stock exhaust I would have expected 20 to 30 hp
different. Not seeing any improvement seems to me that a problem exist somewhere else. Even on a 2000 with the pup cats, a cam change should net additional HP.
The C5 has a very mild cam, with heads flow very well in stock configuration so the problem may lie in the installation.
Even without a tune, I would expect 20 hp increase.
performance being hurt by 2:73 gears....add a converter and 3:42 gears and your et performance could drop by .5 or better....headers are a good thing also, if you can handle the cost do it in combination becuase you can save a few dollars on labor plus get a "package" deal....also think if your end point, what do you want to end up with a drag car or a faster daily driver...best to match components to the goal, they will compliment or match-up to one another....good luck
