From my experince the Nitto 305 s can be a pain in standing water, but the 275s are great no matter what the conditions. The 275s last about 2 to 3 times longer than the 305s anyway. I think they make a 285/35/18 now which would help your final drive ratio too. The Nittos aren't the most consistent, but they seem to handle low 400+ rwhp with smaller stalls. So if I were you I would probably go with 275 or 285 Nittos, 3200 stall and you will love the way it drives on the street and the track.

The track is called Famoso, not Famosa!! Just thought I would help you out.
I drive very conservative on the streets, if I accelerate simi hard (ST-3500), my Kuhmo go up in smoke. Just a way of life, my ET Streets hook like a big dog on the track. I have driven them to Famoso, its 135 miles one way for me. Two skinnies and two ET Streets will not fit in a convertible. I just feel better by trailering my car now. Flats, weather and road conditions make me nervous.
Yes, waiting for Oct. and cooler weather to hit Famoso again. Looking for 11.6.

Its semi not simi (that where some of have to drive thru to get to Famosa!!!!!! (i'm also a helpful fella )
Maybe next me at the track I can get someone to let me try their drag wheels/tires on my car. Always someone who can use an extra $20.
Howie, ask and you shall recieve. You can use my E.T. streets (ccw drag pack) for a pass or two. I was running 11.80's @117 with 393rwhp/ 370 rwt 346 a4. You have a mid 11 second pass in your car if you can hook it up. We can talk Saturday at Andy's.
FYI: with my 3.15 reared stock drivetrain/stock engined '99 A4, I pulled a 1.89 60' and a 1.92 just recently. Tires were 25psi bald-as-slicks-Falken 451's.

That is way too
Don't forget I don't have a T/C.....but I'm sure you will let me borrow that too right?......

I pulled a low 1.9x when my Khumo's were brand new and 90 less RWHP. But also differnt track/DA

I ran those times at Carlsbad ( ice rink starting line) with 1.8 60 ft's. with the E.T. streets. You'll do fine with the stock convertor. Sorry, no TC's laying around for you to borrow. So how does the car feel driving on the street?

Car feels very strong. Just can't hookup with bald Khumos. Ordered new rears yesterday. they go on next teusday. Also have to replace cracked rotor (wiating for Andy to do the labor..I have the part). Got to be ready for WillowSprings on July 3..........
PS: what is E.T. Streeets?
CheifDave: maybe down the line will see how they feel first.
Ok...some of you guys Aqua and Al responded to my track performance in the tech section but I thought I would post over here and get some realistic expectations.
I did Famosa last november...new tires/no H/C..12.61@110.87...cold/great track. Had 326RWHP and 341RWTQ.
Now I have 412RWHP and 390RWTQ. I ran a high elvation track(LACR) with poor prep and actually ran slower 12.82@110.85. My sig has the corrected numbers per LACR website. My Khumos could not hook up with my new power as the tread was VERY light. I put about 1/4 inch of rubber splat all over the rear fender and mufflers....did 15 runs! My best 60' was 2.089. At famosa it was 1.9x.
So my question is: what is the best 60' I can expect to get with 295x35x18 Khumo Mx tires with good tread left. And with this good 60' what should I expect to see ..... can I break into the 11.9x? I have A4/3.42/Stock TC.
Thanks,
DH
Get some Nitto 555r's and you wont have to change tires. I drive mine down to houston about 3 times a year, 255 miles 1 way. They arent the best drag tire but a good drag tire that last around 8k miles. You should get 1.8's easy and few 1.7's with the nittos. If you want a awesome drag tire that can be driven around town but only lasts about 2k miles get the BFG drag radials. I did my best 60 with them at 1.61 but my damn car did not shift to 3rd so i ran a 12.54 at 86. I was at 7.31 in the 1/8 at 94.
As for torque converters, I have gone from stock to a 3000 stall with a low str and liked it but then I went to a 3800 high str stall and loved it. The 3800 with 2.7 str is a great converter. Launches hard as hell but your around town mpg will suffer, highway will stay the same as the converter is locked. I need to get to 2500 rpms to drive around town normally, this really sucks if you have a loud exhasut. I get 11 to 13 mpg around town and 26 on the highway. I dont recommend it for road racing, my car breaks traction at anything below 40 mph and I floor it.
I suggest a 3200 high str stall for your type of driving. Dont forget, when you change converters your dyno numbers will go down but your et will go down alot more. My car only dynoed 380 but traps 118-119 and runs mid 11's on nittos on 1.8 60's.
If you are ever in Dallas, you are more than welcome to come drive my car.

Thanks for the info on the T/C. This is a daily driver too....over 40K in 18 months. So I can't afford tires that go only 2K
I got 20K out of my rear Khumo's being replaced next week. Fronts are still very good!
