I picked up 13 rwhp and 5 rwt going back to 2 1/2 inch GHL's. Oh yeah, the dynamax seems were split. JUNK!!!
I have personally been witness to some exhaust testing where a 2.5" Corsa Ti system was put up against a 3" system (I think Stainless Works, but it may have been Random Tech). Virtually no difference between the two systems and about a 40lb weight savings with the Corsa. This was on a TT vette making well over 700rwhp with catalysts. I wouldn't bother with a 3" system.
I have used Mufflex in the past. Quality work at a decent price. If you need a custom system done in the NJ/Philly area, they are the place.
They are in Hamilton, just outside of Trenton.
Should get my car back on Tuesday with a brand new set of "super-restrictive 2-1/2"-awesome-sounding Borla-quad-tip STINGERS!! Can't wait! I'm gonna pay Andy to do a Dyno pull or 2 with the Stingers just for grins. I'll bet I don't suffer 1HP or Ft. lb of torque! We'll see. I'll share the results.
i just installed the random technology 3 inch exhaust system, its bolted up to kooks long tubes, highflow cats, and the 3x3 x pipe. i have yet to dyno it tho. i will post up the results when i do.
I also have Mufflex custom 3” system installed.
It has bolt on removable cats and bolt on removable mufflers.
It was installed at Mufflex, they did a fairly good job and it sounds awesome on my car.
Not sure about HP gains….
We are testing a third car to determine if there is any validity to go forward with this concept. We designed our own system and with time permitting, we will test it and post the results soon.
We went into the design and testing phase because in a sampling of two cars, both with large motors, we are batting 1 for 2.
Car 1
427 with a stock cat back saw ~20 RWHP / ~10 RWT gains
Car 2
443 with a 2.5” Borla Cat back ~5 RWHP / ~8 RWT gains
If you ask me, the jury is out, only serious testing will determine any gains and on what platform the gains have value ……not to mention the very subjective topic of “how does it sound”

Charlie
That's why you only go straight pipe!! Right Charlie!
They have a greta set of 1 7/8 headers with a 3" collector, then 3" mid section w-X pipe built in huge. Then I have the GHLs to keep it tone at low RPMs.
But at WOT this thing rocks!!!!!!
592RWHP w/d1SC I love it and would never switch this set up. Sounds different, little to no backpressure at WOT.
Alittle backpressis good sometimes and free flow is great!
