3.90 gears w/harden output shafts

total HP:390RWHP
added 150 TNT kit 530Rwhp

(new setup)
408 iron block 10.8-1 CR
Lunati Crank
Lunadi Rods
Wiesco Pistons
Stage III heads
MTI S-1 Cam
90/90 Fast intake
1 7/8 Kooks
Hi-flow cats
Corsa
3.90 gears w/harden output shafts
480RWHP

All the work has been done by MTI in Houston.
What could be causing the car to not put out the HP it should?

S1 cam is very good aggressive cam, 244/244 .612/.612 112. I would in fact put in the almost "perfect" group of cams.

Most of the motors that you see with really high numbers (from tuners) are pushing 12:1-14:1 compression, gigantic cams, have an electric H20 pump(6 hp), Aluminum flywheel(12hp), port matched manifold (8 hp), No Cats(5-10 hp), Dyno In The Middle of the night (priceless), Torco or 100 in the tank, Timing up the frking wazoo(way over 24, like 30).

I bet your first numbers, were not based on a seated motor. (So 15 hp. there). A retune, now thats is seated, maybe worth 10 hp more. I would think you could get to 520 rwhp. easily. JMO

P.S. Does Your state use ethonal during the summer(August)? You will automatically lose 4% there or 20 h.p.. The gas has lower BTU factor.

P.P.S. As mentioned earlier, you could be losing quite a bit potential hp due to the outside air temperture.

best 60ft was 1.55

Screw the dyno, those are respectable numbers. Who wants a dyno queen anyway?

Well tomorrow I should get the new dyno numbers with the D-1SC.I am thinking somewhere between 650-700RWHP w/o nitrous.I think I will set the nitrous for 100 shot.More importantly I am curious to see what it will do at the track. Is there any track numbers floating around with this setup?

I will be taking it to San Antonio Raceway on Sept 3rd and then Hallsville the following weekend.

I agree totally with you. I wonder what would happen if I had an electric water pump, timing at 30 degrees, over 12 to 1 compression, straight 100 octane, aluminum flywheel and if I had dyno'd in the middle of the night. I have seriously thought of going with FMS Meaux LS6 heads and bumping the compression up to 12.5 to 1 and running 100 octane all the time, but I like being able to ride around on 93 octane.

Personally I think a good tuner who knows their product can easily come up with a awesome over 500rwhp daily driver.

Your numbers look good. Your car was obviously setup for a blower.. Except I think the compression is high for a blower, but with the right tune and low boost it will work well and perform like a BEAST.

An electric water pump and aluminum flywheel combined are worth less than 5rwhp from my experience on my car. The pump is worth power if you run without the pulley at the track.

3.90 gears - 10rwhp
big cam - 15rwhp
.7 bump in compression - 12 to 15rwhp
no cats - 5 to 10rwhp
more aggressive tune - 10 to 15 rwhp
cutouts - maybe 10rwhp depending on catback

Thats around an additional 60rwhp if you are concerned with dyno numbers.

Take the belt off on the dyno and its another 10rwhp. Thats why you cant put toooo much stock on dyno numbers.

Default How much of the hosepower on the Forum is legit?

I can't help but laugh when I read some of the horsepower being produced by some of these engines.Read my sig below and it reads 390 H.P. to the rear wheels.I blew my engine and when Andy opened the engine, there wasn't a thing that wasn't damaged. He built a new block from scratch.Everything I/S the engine was new.Now that the engine has 8000 miles on it,I can feel it getting faster. While not the fastest car on the road,it will do just fine.I would guess since it broke in ,the hosepower increased about 10.This is an every day driver.(My only car)Not too radical, not too docile.

What kind of numbers are you putting down on the track? IMO those are the only numbers that really matter.
