Just got back from the dyno, bone stock, 02 Z06 w/ just a K&N filter I put down 359RWHP, and 355rwtq. Since then I added A vararam, GHL bullets and the original LG lt w/ cats. Well now for the results: best of three pulls was the last pull at 379 rwhp and 376rwtq. No tune, just dynoed. What dop you guys think. Is this right. I was hopeing to put more than that down w/ just the addition of the headers. I know I could probably get a little more out of it w/ a tune, but to me it's not worth getting a tune until I get either a heads and cam setup ot a supercharger. Also I had a litlleblower fan that was put directly in front of the screens blowing air directly into the vararam at speeds greater than 40mph. Well let me know what you guys think. Thanks
Sounds about right. That's within a few mph on my '03 Z06 when it was stock, and with similar mods.
Remember, the Vararam doesn't show it's power until your 50+ mph, which is difficult to replicate on a Dyno, even with a leaf blower.
You're likely leaving about 5 to 10 HP by forgoing a tune.

At least 10 HP missing due to no tune........get it tuned and you'll be happier with the numbers.
Thanks guys, I'll look into a tune, I'm still trying to decide between FI, H/C, or just getting a tune. After spending $2800 on 20 hp and tq what $300-$400 more on 10 hp. Sounds like a better deal, huh? we'll see.

But exhaust is probably one of the more expensive mods that shows the least HP #'s in the end, buuuuuuuuuuuuttttt it does sound much better right??
I think your #'s are in line with what they should be. Most Z's that "I've" seen with similiar mods and tuned make in the high 370's-mid 380's with matching torque.....
I think going with a tune "could" net you another 10/10......Which is pretty strong for a mild bolt-on Z.
I know the vararam doesn't do much, it's just after talking to LG, I was expecting to get an extra 25 hp there, and when I bought the vararam people said I should see 10 hp on the dyno, I didn't expect to see anything out of the GHL's. So in all I guess 25 out of 35 would have been nice. I hope for the money I spent, I got all 20 hp from the LG's.
Thanks guys for your input on the numbers. I guess I can deal w/ the #'s for now, I'll look into getting some more hp here shortly. it's never enough is it?
Not sure if all tuners do this, but my tuner got a fee for the initial tune, and now when I take it back for a new mod it is $150 since he has already done the initial tune.
get tuned
dynoed my 01 4 weeks ago..i have b & b prts, x-pipe with open air box lid,k & n, larger airbridge and coupler..dynoed 373 rwhp and 362 tq..after 12 runs at the dyno shop in santee, ca..very happy with results considering i don't have headers
