Yes, you must have a chute if you run "over" 150MPH in both IHRA, & NHRA. I designd a "flip down" spring loaded license plate bracket for my C5, and had the chute fitting welded to the frame behind the rear license plate. When I race, I flip down the plate, bolt on the chute, connect the release cable and I'm good to go!!
Well I sent my 4.10 rear end to DTE for winter maint. and they reported back that when they torn it down and serviced it, ALL LOOKED GOOD - CASE AND ALL. 200 Runs and ALL IS GOOD. They "freshened it up" for the 2006 season and sent it on its way! Any one running a modified Vette and not using a DTE rear end with all the upgraded "stuf" or not using a DTE Tranny/Rearend Brace is just asking for TROUBLE!!! IF YOUR GOING TO DRAG RACE EVEN A STOCK VETTE THESE TRACKS HOOK AND YOU RUN THE RISK OF BREAKING! SPEND A FEW $$$ AND BUY INSURANCE!!!

All of the ferrous/steel parts were magnafluxed to check for stress risers/cracks and all the aluminum parts were X-rayed to check for hairline cracks as well....all was good! You're good to go!!!
Good luck with your racing season this year JR, as it's always fun getting pictures from you with the front tires off the ground on that beast! We've GOT to come and watch you sometime!
Thanks for the quick turn around - you guys are GREAT! My application is in again for the Hot Rod Magazine Pump Gas Drags held in Memphis around the middle of May. They will announce the 50 cars to be invited on Feb. 13 This years format is an NHRA style ladder with heads up racing on a .500 tree - Keep Your fingers Crossed!
