Hi guys,
i've been waiting for Dart stage 2 CNC ported heads that are back ordered, and I'm seriously thinking about going with box stock Dart 225's that i can get right now, and just touching them up a little. What do you think? Am I going to be sacrificing any H.P.
Is there any other head that you think i could use that compares, looking for the best bang for the buck.
Current Mods:
G5X3 on 114
LS2 Chain
Kooks 1 3/4 Headers
X pipe no cats
Yank SS 3600
3.42 rear
Vararam
PRC Springs/ Titanium Retainers
Hardened Pushrods
Corsa Touring Catback
Stock heads
392 to the wheel Norris dyno
Check LS1Tech.com, someone over there did incredibly with out of the box Darts and a TR 224 cam. I think it was 425 rwhp. I would just go out of the box, if you need more later you can always send them out. I got my 205's, disassembled them very carefully, cleaned them up, ultrasonically cleaned them, played with valve spring shims until all the springs were within a couple of thousanths of each other and put them back together. I am taking the car apart now. For the price, and the parts quality, best bang for the buck out there. Drop forged one piece valves, titanium valve spring locks, nitrided PSI beehive springs, machined locks. What a deal!!!!!!!!
I'm seriously thinking 225's out of the box and putting my dual springs on them with a little cleanup work, I'm thinking the car will be a beast. do you think going to 225's is overkill.
John
No, not overkill out of the box. I think I would try the Dart springs first, you can always change them later. The Dart setup is extremely light. Springs are 68 gms, retainers are 6.6 gms, locks are 2 gm. Even the valves are light. On the 205's, the intake is bigger than stock but weighs about 3 gms less
Their installed height is about 1.75". They are good for 0.625 according the PSI, but I am not sure what install height they base that on. Might want to contact Dart on this one.
Just bought the Dart Stage 2 CNC'd, will have them by the end of next week.

You SUCK..... I'm working a bunch of Overtime right now in hopes of saving enough for the heads. What did they run you? Hmmm wonder which one of us will be quicker. Guess there's only one way to find out. We will have Corvette Challenge decals and shirts for you guy's to purchase if your interested at the next race.
$1790.00 to my door, bought them from a guy that changed his mind after he bought them. These heads are on backorder from Texas Speed, I've been waiting to find a deal on these, I should have them by the end of next week, next weekend I'll be putting them on!!!
And then back to Norris for a tune.
I'll be ready for April 15th!

Sounds like your install will go faster than mine. I am hoping for April 15 as well, but I have it half apart now. Here's to all our success with these heads
I'm hoping that the CNC'd heads give me some great numbers as well. My friend is letting me use his M/T Drag Radials after the install and tune ,I'll let you guys know how I do.
