i'm new here and havent seen this on a c5 (mine is a 2002). has anyone done a step by step performance install, basically i mean install a part, drag test ,install another part, drag test and so on (basically to see what each part is worth in ET reduction). i've seen mustangs and firebirds and some early C4s done this way and found it intresting. dynoing is ok, but the strip is the final word. i'm also looking for the cheapest bang for the buck(like the tie wrap mod for instance, not nitrous) i've done some projects in the past : 89 firebird 350 tpi that run 8.6s at 81 mph (1/8 th)about $500 in mods, a 87 vette ran 13.17 at 107(1/4) stock gears(3.07) and stock torque converter about $2000 in mods(some money wasted, cause the cheap and free stuff made the most gains) a 93 318 dodge dakota pickup ran 9.00 at 79mph (1/8) (open rear even) about $500.(damn fast truck). let me know. great forum, thanks richard
yesterday on my 02 a4 i done the tie rap mod, a 160 themostat, bypass throttle body and programmed with a predator and went on a informal roadtest(traction control off) temp 90+ 25 mph punch serious traction problem (like in sideways) 1st gear is pretty useless now under full throttle but that is a good thing.drag testing will need some stickier tires. not scientific but fun. richard
I have an 00 a4. Stock with vararam it went 12.8@109. Then I put a full exhaust on the car, tpis headers, random x-pipe B&B bullet cat back. With this the car went 12.4@114. Still running stock runflats I put in a 3.90 rear and a yank SS3800 stall went back and had no traction went 12.4@116 mph. Then I went back with ccw's slicks and skinnies and it went 11.64@118. My buddy that tunes it with LS1 edit at the time really didn't go wild on it just took a little bit of gas out of it. Put a TSP 233/239 cam in and went 11.5 @120. That was with stock front tires and 16 inch radials out back. Still could have went faster on just cam.
