Default 300 C Srt8

My buddy has a new srt8. The guy looks at videos on streetfire.net and belives that his 300c with an intake and exhaust will beat my Z06.
My Z has long headers, no cats, x-pipe and Borla xr1. Also has a Vararam, BBP shifter and its been tuned.
What do you guys think? Thanks for your input

I had some wheel time on the 300C SRT-8 and they will move. To me it felt more in competition with a stock LS1 car, probably due to the weight. The car can handle and brake in a very impressive way. It's an impressive car, and although I don't think you would run away with the race, I do beleive a modded Z would take a slightly modded SRT-8. And that comes from someone who has a modded Z, but only driven a stock SRT-8. BTW, a 300C SRT-8 is in my future I beleive. The room and quality of the car is really something else. It's overall and excellent car IMO.
Hope this helps.

Well, I would then ceremoniously show him how wrong he really is.

A good friend of mine has one and he's got exhaust, a CAI more or less, and a bunch of other mods but no SC yet (don't think he's going to go that far). I do believe he's going with a new intake manifold & heads as well. He's never taken it to a track but can easily keep up with my stock Z in other "areas" He'll pace me but can't seem to pass, still pretty damn impressive for a 4000lbs barn door. After all his mods are done I'm sure he'll kill me in a straight line. To me the Z is like an F-16, the 300C SRT-8 an F-4... Proof positive if you put enough power behind something you can make a brick go fast (I still love the F-4 though!!!). Of course he's quick to rub the old "So how many people can you take to lunch today" routine and various other remarks in my face. It's a friendly rivalry. On a side note, his poor car always seems to have a problem & has been in the shop as much as it's been on the road, kinda sad for a car less than a year old... And this was before he started mods.

A'hui hou,

Mark

A stock SRT-8 would be a better run for a regular C5.... someone mentioned above high 12's so it may even creep away from a stock C5 but a Z06 with a competent driver should stomp the **** out of that car.

There is no reason your modded Z wont leave him looking at your tail lights

C'mon... you could probably lay waste to that 4500lb POS without any mods at all!

My buddy ran one in his z28 (ls1) with lid, free mods, a y pipe and dumped bullet... he said it was dead even. His car is 12.9-13.0.

with evolution on this one. I like the look, and heck I like all the new cars mopar are coming out with , or is it old cars coming back? Most of them here are not SRTs and they have BIG wheels... slow IMO.

You are probably in the 11s with your Z and you should walk him at the track, esp if you can get it to hook up. The faster you go, the more you should pull him too as your CF is .35 and his must be around .4, anyone? Bring him to the track and take some vids (and make him buy you lunch! ) Have fun brother!

Thanks Dave, but this guy is one to talk. I'm almost sure he would not go to the track. Lee

I have an SRT8 and a modified 01 vette and and can say that the vette will run the 300 down.. Mine just has the mopar CAI intake in it.. It still has to make you think, a 4000+ lbs car that moves like that you have to love.. I would like to run it against a C5 though.. It would be a good run.. I do think the 300SRT will take the vette off of the line..

Hey...tell your friend you know someone on this forum that would like to make a bet (that'd be me ), say for $500. My money would be on the Z, of course. Let's see his response to that.

Drivers being equal, there is no way that a stock SRT8 can beat a stock or somewhat modded Z06. I have seen the tests on the SRT8 and while fast for a big car, has never ran to 60 in 4 flat or covered the quarter in 12.4 like a 405hp stock Z06 has and can!

Default SRT-8 High 13 sec car

No way it is even a match for standard c5 let alone a Z06.
