Default 1st time out...

Just got back from my first time to the track in my '02 zo6 I bought about 3 weeks ago. The car has a MTI CAI, lg street lt's, and borla stinger catback. I'm not sure if it's been tuned for the lt's...so guessing it puts down somewhere between 360-370 rwhp? All runs on stock F1s with pretty low tread set at 25 lbs.
The track prep was mediocre and the conditions were mid 50* with overcast and humidity pretty high (not sure the DA but I'm sure it wasn't great).
I've raced 2 other auto cars down the track so the experience was familiar, but only raced one other 6 speed car (stock 95 Formula) once at the track...so I wasn't expecting anything stellar, just seat time. Needless to say, launching a 6 speed on stock tires is some tricky stuff. I've been doing a lot of reading up on Ranger's advice on racing techniques...but I couldn't find that 'sweet spot' in the clutch. My goal for the day was to run 2 12 second passes (for consistency hahaha)

1st pass slip:
2.46 60'
9.00 1/8 @ 88.32 mph
13.35 @ 113.9
On this run I went around the rubber pile that they were featuring today instead of water..haha. Babied it outta the hole w/o trying to launch it...and speed shifted (other runs as well, no powershifts). Just wanting to get a feel of the car on this pass.

2nd pass (best et of the day)
2.22 60'
8.476 1/8 @ 90.13
12.82 @ 114.3
This time I attempted to launch the car. Did about a 3 second burnout to clean the tires off, quick release of clutch (almost dumping it) @ 3K rpm, and it bogged just slightly and picked right back up.

3rd-5th passes
Best mph pass was 115.4, 2/3 of these were 12.8x passes with 2.2 and 2.3 60'

After being out at the track quite a bit with my last car, I know this car has alot more in it...I'm going to go ahead and guess that it'll go 11s with a 1.8/low 1.9 60', I just need more seat time. I also needed to get the tires hotter by doing a correct burnout..but the right rear is getting bald and I don't have the $$ for tires right now.
I'm hoping to have a set of nittos for it by next spring and I'll go back out, heat them properly, and get some more seat time.

All and all I had a lot of fun, the car pulls like mad up top (3rd and 4th gear), and definitely is challenging to get it right outta the hole. Huge props to the guys that can launch these cars dead on without bogging or wheelhopping. I experienced more bogging than hop, but it did hop on 1 run and I got out of it. Can't wait to get out there again!

You did better then I did my first time out with my 03Z06!!
Seat time is what's needed. Your car most likely WAS tuned. Many guys were getting codes thrown w/o tunning after headers.
Good luck!
