Default Recommendations For 400rwhp...

okay im kinda new and have a 97 auto... and would like around 400rwhp... what would be the CHEAPEST yet effective way to do this??

I also know that i need to to upgrade my gears and maybe install a torque converter for quicker track times as i have the 2.73s

Would 400RWHP be good enough to get into mid 12s??

A 100 shot of nitrous, 3:42 gears and a 3000 stall converter should get you low 12s, maybe high 11s with the right tires. The gears and converter stall speed may sound too conservative but it's all you'll need with nitrous and the car will be more streetable.

Your drive train upgrades will be a big help, once those are done and you know where you are with track times you can decide on the next step. Cam only will get you into the 12's if you are not already there with the other mods. Trouble is, once you get into the 12's you will be looking to 11's so plan carefully.

You can get into the 11's with the right converter/rear, bolt ons, plus tires. If you can't get into the 11's with a cam, converter, and tires, then something is wrong.

2004 a4 coupe with 2.73s
stinger, corsa pace cars, lg long tubes and a tune on street tires with 35 psi
Tonight, I ran a 12.88 at 109.68 on a 2.01 sixty foot, on my second run ever in this car. With a convertor and drag radials i'm hitting mid 12's easy.
