Default Running Without a Filter

Has anyone tried running without a filter? I know the Camaro guys have a lot of luck with pulling their filter. I'm running a K&N drop-in right now, but I was wanting to see if there was any difference without the filter tonight at the track.

As far as risks go, I know you run the risk of sucking something up, but with the MAF honeycomb inline with the TB, is the risk really all that great?

Suggestions?

It definitely made a difference in my SS when I ran it. I tried removing it from my Z06 and found that with the stock box, it didn't want to shut and wasnt sealing at all. Figured that would probably harm more than help, so I put it back in..

Lot more tenths in doing the driver mod than yanking the air filter to pick up a couple rwhp.

And then there is the risk of sucking in track debris or a Kentucky summer June bug at 100 mph and busting the MAF wires.

Just a thought.

I've been working on the driver mod. Those damned june bugs are everywhere lately. Probably a good point. I'll work on maxxing out my driving before I start on the free mods.
