Default Bad 60ft times

Went to the track. First time out with new cam 410 gears and drag radials
My 03 z is making 418 rwhp with the 410's. The drag radials are 295 35 18 BFG.
I will not tell you guys my et or trap speed, the DA was about 4,000ft. I will say my trap speed went up by 4mph over last time out with LT's and stock gears. Pretty happy with that.
My best 60 ft was 2.0, was having trouble with traction. I know I should be in the 1.6 1.7 range. You guys with BFG, do you need to do a good burnout or just a clean off? I did not do much of a burnout. I was launching at about 3k, with a slip of the clutch. I think I would have been better off launching higher with a fast release. The car when stock was easy to get of the line.
You guys with gears and drag radials. chime in.
Thanks Brian

At the track your tire pressure should be 16psi in the rear with the bfgs and if you have your stock run craps up front pump them up to 35-40psi. I always had better luck with less water and a 5 sec burn out with them. Also you do not want to spin your tires in the water because you will spray water up in your wheel wells and when you are at the line the water will drip on your tires and cause a poor 60ft. I have an auto so I could not help you with your launch Good luck

I would put those bfg's at 15psi and do a big burnout. If you do a good burnout I would launch around 4500 rpms to start, slipping the clutch and see what happens.
On a well prepped track you can come out @ 5000 and should be in the 1.5x's.
Being aggressive will yield the best times but you also run more of a risk of breaking something.
Goodluck and experiment and make sure you write down all the data.

First 4 runs tire pressure was 18, and I was spinning. Last run I dropped the pressure to 15 and tires hooked and bogged.

Slip the clutch a little more on the launch to prevent the spin then bog. Keep in mind, If you do a big burnout and put the tires @ 15 then you will need to launch aggressively or you will just bog.
If you don't want to launch so high the keep the tires @ 18 psi and launch lower but always do a good burnout.
I have a few video's of aggressive launches when I was making aroung 419rwhp in my z06 with 3.90 gears.
I think they were on et streets but it gives you an idea of how aggressive you need to be to get the low 60' times if you don't mind abusing your car. I'll try and find a link.

Rob, I do have hardened output shafts, both sides. So I think I can be aggressive on the launch without breaking.
