Default Header Question?

I have a 99 FRC that I am planning to do a Head/Cam swap in the near future. My question is how much power will I be robbing myself by keeping the stock exhaust manifolds and cats?

The car is stock except for a Borla catback, and I am happy with the sound now. I'm afraid headers and Hi-Flo cats would too loud.

Any opinions on this? Thanks!

You will kill the power if you do heads and cam with stock manifolds. The car shouldnt be too loud if you get cats. I would suggest a set of American Racing Headers, I feelthey are the best fit and performance of any headers available

I didnt know there was such a thing as to loud but I agree, stock manifolds will kill power. IMO headers are a must. If it is noise you are worried about get z06 Ti exhaust after the headers. It will quiet it down a ton unless you are really getting on it.

Heads/Cam without full exhaust is almost pointless (well not really) as of right now I have 243 heads with 230/232 cam 114+1 lsa and am putting headers on the 15th...You really should install headers before the heads and cam package! Only reason mine doesn't have headers right now is owner took them off to lower the price of my car!

Thanks for all the replies. I don't want to inhibit anything, so I will just plan on headers as well. If it's too loud for my taste, I can always go wiith a TI catback as suggested.

I have a 99 FRC we put it on the dyno before and after Kooks headers and catback, about 25rwhp ,dont bother doing anything before doing exhaust,It did get a bit louder and thats with B&B bullets, but well worth it!!
