wat clutch do u guys recommend for a bolt on z with a 125 shot of nitrous. i was thinking the ls7 since its cheap in price and its comes out in a car with 505hp. im kind of in a budget so which do u guys think has the best bang for the buck?
I have a brand new Spec III in my car holding 600 to the wheels on spray. I have sprayed it three times and is holding great. There are a LOT of different opinions on clutches here. Prepare yourself to be a bit overwhelmed. LOL

We all have different opinions when it comes to after market clutches. There are several good manufactures of after market clutches out there.Do some research and take your pick...none of which will be entirely bullet proof though.
The LS7 clutch is fine for a stock application, however,I would not recommend it for a high HP/TQ car.If the LS7 clutch is slipped it will glaze the disc rather quickly.
I don't think you will have much luck with a 'cheap' clutch with over 450 hp and trips to the track. You will end up frying it and then buying one of the expensive ones anyway.
Save yourself time and money and go with a dual disc from this point forward. You'll be glad you did down the road. Stay away from the LS7 clutch, its not good choice IMHO. They get hot and fade away after a few high rpm launches. McLeod, Ram, Spec, Textraila make some good dual disc clutches which are very reliable. Too many people go for "cheap" when it comes to clutches which will come back to haunt them later.
The LS7 did not hold up in my stock C6Z. I ran a Textralia Exo-Skel twin disc in my bolt-on C5Z and loved it. (1.46 60') I will be soon using this clutch in my C6Z.
the only reason i was thinking about the ls7 clutch is cause my car is an 01 z with only lt's, vararam, pulley and a tune so im not even @ 400HP. i am goin to spray the car once at the track since im goin to need a roll cage and go to the track once every couple of months. so u guys think it would hold up with my little z. im kind of in a budget thats y i dont want to go with a twin disc.
Most people on this forum OVERCLUTCH their cars.. The most important thing when replacing a clutch, is what it's function will be, ie, drag, road course, daily driving, etc..
That will help you make a cost effective decision. Just makes no sense to install a twin disc for daily driving or a stock disc for drag racing, if you get my drift..
Now, since you have described what you are wanting to do with your vehicle, I would recommend a text 0z700, for the price, you can not beat it's performance and street manners without breaking your wallet. Best of Luck to yaa..
how good does ur spec hold up at the track? do u dump or feather the clutch?
No matter what clutch you get, you should never dump anyways.. It should always be a fast controlled release.. (unless you have a 9" rear of course, lol)

its a on and off clutch... I quick release.. very close to a dump at 5k... car hooks and goes with 1.5x 60' fts... totally stock rear no brace no nothing.
the 16 MH soft bias plies absorb alot of shock and help with not breaking things. Always try to spin some instead of dead hooking
just FYI , I had a spec 3+ in my h/c WS6 for 2k miles. When I added the 408 it only lasted another 750. This was at 530 whp.
I stepped up to a textralia but had issues at first as they sent me the wrong pressure plate, then the wrong disk. Later on, I had hydraulic issues with this clutch so i chose not to go this route either.
I hope the RAM Twin works out well. i read good things
I will agree with one of the statements above that alot of people on this board WAY overclutch there cars.
We used a spec 3+ Unit in the car last year and it held down over 700rwhp with no problems at all. They rate it for 850ft/lbs clamping force wich is more then sufficiant for 99% of the people on this board. Alot of people have complaints about spec, but personally I think its installation error (such as an inproperly shimmed slave) or problems resulting because of the factory master cylinder. The 3+ clutch is almost perfect in every aspect in my oppinion.
