yea....i usually leave it on...normally drive like a puss....i had my fun back when i had my HCI TA...doing 160 past a cop...150+ multiple times...fastest i ever been in my Z06 was 127.4....in the 1/4 miles...keep it under a 100 on the street...if I really flog it...its while street tuning highway pulls in 3rd gear
dont know what the deal is...1st and 2nd gear are fine on the street with street tires
Rolling into the throttle helps...I dont feel much need in spinning my 380 dollar a piece rear tires...
Ernie...email me Kurtomac24@yahoo.com and I'll host your photos for you...I'll give you the direct link and you can post them where ever you please...If i get down that way anytime soon...I expect a ride in that beauty!
Ok all this talk bout gears has got me wondering.. Any real world times?? Preferably for a Z?? Lets say I run 11.7@ 124 with my 3.42s what do yas think if i went with 3.90s?? Any before after just gears upgrade times???
heres my comparison...didnt get many passes with either setup...stock gears...stock clutch...HCI..did 11.57 at 123 on a 1.87 on drag radials with stockers up front...1st pass...didnt get any more passes as i stopped after wheel hop on the 2nd pass and called it a night...next time out...swapped to 390s, twin disk clutch, 1 3/4 headers to 1 7/8 headers, 4500 rpm lauch...slicks n skinnies and thats it...bogged to a 1.68 60ft 11.10 at 127.4....car felt much stronger and crossed the trap at a much more desireable rpm than with 342s

granted I have an frc w/ an m6..went from 1.74, 7.6, 11.9 to 1.63, 7.4, 11.6 w/ the addition of only 4.10 gears
I have 3.90's m6 and hit the trap about 100-200 rpm away from 4th gear red line. You do not what to have to go for 5th just before the line! I make a bit over 340 rwhp (12.6 sec @114 mph) so you at 465 rwhp you best have an automatic or say hello to a 5-3 miss-shift possibility! You have to consider the car as a whole package. The gas mileage will drop dramatically too as the 6th gear cruse rpm goes from aprox 1200 to 2100!
The et drop with gears is about .4 sec. The sensation is not seen in the low gears as traction becomes and issue but man does it pull much harder at the top end of 3rd and 4th. You will see triple digits VERY easily on back country roads!
PS 465 rwhp with only h/c, no NO2? A h/c only gets you about 70 - 75 rwhp max over stock, and stock rwhp is about 291 for a c5. This puts you at abut 366 rwhp if my numbers are right. Who did your work cause they are miracle workers!
Oh ditch the runflats and get a compressor and plug kit. TOYO makes great racing compound tires for your climate. http://toyotires.com/tires/sports-car

You my friend are misinformed its not uncommon for these cars with a good matching heads and cam setup with the FAST intake to make 450rwhp+

Never seen so much misinformation in one post before.

I'll preface this by stating that I do not have before and after data. However, analysis of previous passes coupled with some assumptions seem to indicate that my ET was lowered by +/- 0.2. This would be through lowering the 60' time as well as making the car more efficient in its powerband.
With 3.90's I went from 12.8@112 on a 1.99 60ft to a 12.62@115 on a 1.97 60ft. The car pulls much harder than the stock gears. I was occasionally trapping 112 with stock gears, and am not trapping 113-114 consistantly.

Wow..just seen this. I would like to think my tuners are "Miracle Workers"...but there are plenty of other cars on here that are H/C/I making better #'s than mine.
