Default Drag radial questions

I am looking for suggestions...

I have some front c5 zo6 wheels to use for rears (drag radials) on my c5.

I was thinking about the nitto 555r drag radials 275/40/17.

my C5 is a manual, with 388/383 rwhp/tq stock trans and diff.

looking to lower my 60' times and my ET...

is this the best/safest bet? have heard that i should go with these, and they should work with the power that i am putting down...

I would only run M/Ts DR's but thats me. Never had any luck with Nitto's with any power!

Almost any DR but Nittos. With a couple dozen runs, the best I could do was 1.8x and a lot of wheel hoppin'.

I am running BFG's right now and finally have the launch dialed in and I am able to get 1.7's. I am thinking with more seat time 1.6's should be not far away. I am running 18" on the rears also.

I agree ! I never had better than a high 1.7 (I think...too long ago).

The Nittos are great for the street.

If you want a drag radial the best bet is going to be the m/t radials. However, the m/t bias ply et streets will be softer on the rear.

I ran 275x40x17 Hoosiers on my bolt-on C5Z. I guess they worked out okay for me.

I had these and swapped them for M/T DRs. Sold them to a forum member (Capthuff) and he loves 'em. I believe they're a bit lighter than the M/Ts and felt a bit stickier to me. Downside is I think they wear quicker and have almost no tread so probly not very good in the rain. I did drive them on the street with no problems.

Also, DO NOT DRIVE THEM IN THE RAIN. I got caught in a downpour in my C6Z and it was a nightmare. I was forturnate to have my two friends, Mark and Kyle, trailer me to safety. For some reason, my C5Z was not as bad, but I still had a white-knuckle ride home.

I run on the same Hoosier DR's as Gary. Avoid the rain if at all possible...if you get caught in the wet your butt will definitely pucker up.
