Shorter tire will technically give you more acceleration if you can hook. It's like going to a taller gear. However, the contact patch will be less, therefore less traction.
I run the 285-40-18 Nt05r's, mine are just a little over 27 inches tall. My stock 275-40-18 is 26.6 tall. Just lest then 1/2 inch. The taller tire will help on the top end as long as you have the power, I had looked at a 275-35-18, but, like said above it just doesn't want to hook as well with the shorter side walls. Mine should be great now that I have a Z06 tranny with lower 1-2-3 gears, it will offset the taller tire for me. Yours will be somewhere in the 1/2" shorter which may not hook like you want. Will still be better then your street tires.
the 275/35 will should actually have a greater contact patch than the 275/40 because the aspect ratio is lower and doesn't allow the tire to curve as much if mounted on the proper rim size which I assume is the stock one. The only drawback I see is the less sidewall to cushion the shock, but being a DR it'll be better than the street tire. Also it could possibly require an extra shift as it'll knock off a couple mph off maximum speed in each gear.
Pre, our cars sure look alike, everytime you post I think its me for a second. I know yours is a FRC, but, just fools me from time to time. I'm kinda partial I suppose.

haha, I actually run the same wheels you do on the street...get your windows tinted and they'll be even more alike!
