Want to put Hoosier DR's 275/40/17 on them (rears). So 17"x9/9.5" or 17"x10". Something affordable.. (not CCW.) Other option could be 16" I suppose. Thanks.

for a 17x9.5 a front c5 zo6 wheel would be the cheapest to find....

that is what i use with mt et streets 26x11.5 17

i found 2 used ones locally for $75 that were gm...they were chromed and the chrome was peeling...

Ok, thanks. I have a pair of thin spokes 17x8.5. Should I just use those?

recomended wheel width for 275x40x17 off hoosier site is 9" to 11" thats why you use a zo-6 stock front wheel which is 9.5" and not the coupe wheel which is 8.5".

This is what I was wondering.. it would work, but the sidewall would bulge and be very tall !
How about a 245 on the rears.. ?

I have personally run through three sets of drag radials (275 40 17) on 8.5" rims. I know that they are technically 1/2" narrower than the recommend rim size, but they worked fine for me. The one down side is a slightly reduced contact patch...less rubber laid down.

The 275x40x17 Hoosiers with the front Z06 wheels weigh in at 40 1/2 pounds. Excellent tire and is extremely aggressive which may bog your setup. You will need to keep them aired up. This tire can handle a substantial amount of power.

agreed, if you run them real low it could cause cupping, but going lower than 18psi shouldn't be necessary

I would recommend a old set of C4 ZR1 rims... certain makes of the ZR1 wheel were actually pretty light, you can get a 17x9 or 17x11 rim and they fit fine. Plus you can use some really nice wax on them to make your car go fast!

Also, 17x9" off a 98-00 WS6 firebird are great, there lighter than the C4 "ZR1" style and not too hard to find. they are a polished aluminum 5 spoke rim.
