Default ET streets or drag radial?

Im looking to get some rims and tires and im not sure what would be the best setup.

These will only be used for the track. Car is a 01 z06.

Will 17inch z06 front rims work on the rear with drag radials?

Also what would be best mt et streets or mt drag radials?

And what sizes.

Thanks for all the help guys.

385 rwhp right now, stock clutch, just bolt ons.

Planning on H/C and 500rwhp. Upgrading clutch, also adding 410s by
next fall.

The tire we ran back in the day with H/C cars around 450rwp was a 26x11.5x16 mt et street(bias ply) which is still hard to beat today.
These tires should be run with skinnies and that requires a drack pack.

As for drag radials they have come a long way in the past 5 years.
IMO, Hoosier drag radials are one of the best for cars with 400-500rwhp.
I'd go with a 16" or 17"(cheapest solution). You don't need very wide tires either, they can slow you down. If you run a hoosier in 17" on a front c5 z06 rim that should work well but I'd air them up quite a bit with 385 rwhp and a stock clutch. Something like 25lbs and a small burnout.
Talk to some of the resident racers in this performance section.

Then as you increase rwhp and go with shorter gears, you can air them down and take more advantage of the tire.

At 500rwhp with 4.10 gears and a manual I think you should evolve your setup into a drag pack with either bias ply rears and skinnies or drag radials and skinnies.

A Hoosier 275 40 17 drag radial is a nice option.

Just get a set of ET Streets(radials) so you don't have to get front wheels/tires as well. They'll work great, cutting 1.5x 60's with mine.

Thanks for the help guys.

I think i'm going to go with the 275 40 17 Nitto NT05r or
Hoosier's, on a set of z06 front rims.

Proven advice above.

If you're not wanting to run skinnies, the hoosiers DR can't be beat imo. They are lighter than the other drag radials being nylon belted and don't necessarily last the longest being the softest, but if they're only used at the track that may not be of concern. The shorter tire will help your gearing slightly too, but may not be enough once you get 4.10s and 500rwhp depending on what you set your limiter to.

If you are going to have a H/C car with 4.10's you might have to bump up to 28in tire so you dont have to shift into 5th gear... I have a cam only 02z and my shift light comes on in 4th right before the end of the track

That all depends on how high you want to spin the engine to.

I used ET Street (bias) for a while until Rob tuned me on to the Hoosier DRs. Even with 650, they work well for me. Having said that.... I have some barely used 16" ET Streets if you want them cheap.

Thanks for the offer but I have a set of 17" z06 rims.
I'm trying to find tires for them.
