Am thinking of adding SLP 1.85 rocker arms to my C5. Please see my Profile for mods. The car breathes very well and I have a low lift, .525 .531 Comp Cam. My understanding is that the rockers will add about 12rwhp (peak) and about 15-17 ftlbs rwtorque (peak) on a stock engine, so I expect more with my setup. Also, I understand the rockers have a fairly significant effect on "under the curve" power and torque. I do not want to change cams again, and thought this may give me just about what I want from the car. I have a great low end and the car pulls very hard. I had 3.73s in the car (twice) and it was really difficult to launch it quickly on street tires. They just wanted to spin. So, when my last set of 3.73s began to whine, I switched to 3.42s in the hope the car would be easier to launch quickly off the line. I was hoping the rockers may help regain some of the midrange jump lost to the gear change and give me a little more up top. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What lobes are used on your cam? With a 1.85 rocker I'd make sure you take the ramp rate of the camshaft into consideration and make sure the rest of the valvetrain is up to par to handle it. If you haven't changed valve springs already, you need to make sure you have some suitable aftermarket valve springs to handle the increased lift. With that small of a cam, there shouldn't be too many other concerns.
If it were me, I'd save the money from the rockers and put it towards throwing a bigger cam in it, as 1.85 is getting to be a pretty extreme rocker ratio which can lead to some interesting geometry.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll give Comp a call and see what they have to say. I already have 918 springs so I believe I'm okay there.

Curious your street tire combination & age of tires?
I'm told that added weight to valve train of what you are thinking is just bad news.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs ..three years old
The SLPs, being a no-roller rocker will add very little, if any, weight to the valvetrain. They are nearly identical to the stock rockers except for the ratio. I also believe they are made by the same outfit. Should be extremely reliable. In addition, I have 2003 LS6 heads (w/918 springs) on the car with the lightweight sodium filled valves.

dont waste your money...put a different cam in for the same price as rockers
Even if it's a little more money (and it likely would be) I still think a cam is the better move, the stock rockers are fine (as long as they're in good shape).

Appreciate the feedback, but I already have an LS6 intake on the car and have been told that a FAST doesn't do a whole lot better on a stock displacement LS1. As far as a cam goes, I'm just trying to enhance the Comp XR269HR that I already have without having the engine torn apart again. My hope is to keep my low end and enhance the midrange through the top end by bolstering "under the curve" power and torque. I take this car all over the country so don't want to get too carried away. The car is pretty quick now and I'm just trying give it a little more kick from midrange on up to make up for my gear swap.

I would check into that FAST....I think it's still a very nice improvement over a ls6, particularly in the midrange. I think you'd be a lot happier with the FAST vs the rockers.
Good luck in your endeavors and driving all over the country! That's the best way to see the country.
