Default Cam ???s

Im running this cam Comp Cam - 224/228 581 588 114+1 w/ 243 Stage2 CNC ported heads.11.2 compression,u/d pully,ls6 intake,lg pros Lts.stock stall , im starting talks with my engine builder about a bigger cam and probably a 3600 ss yank, with a larger cam could i see a decent increase in power? right now its at 404/390 sae dynojet. i know my tuner knows it all but would it be worth the cost over what i already have.??
thanks

Depends on price vs out come. Can you be ok with what your going to pay vs what you'll be at afterwards? Depending on the bigger cam specs your end result could be any different number of combos as far as hp/tq goes. All depends on what you want and how much your willing to pay to get it!

Btw. With the compression already upped, idk how much bigger on the cam u can go with out running into ptv clearance issues, assuming the increase is from milled head decks. That's something to be taken up with the people doing the work. Good luck!

Also with your upgraded heads, a fast mani and tb would be a good addition to your set up. Just a suggestion!

You can see a big gain with a larger cam but you must make sure everything else matches up with it.

Yea i know what ya mean, for what ive already spent,i could have went s/c and be pretty happy. And this time ive also got to put in stall,So im probaly looking at $2,200 for maybe 30 at the wheels. But with the new added power and what i already have, i could probaly get into the 10s on all motor
Thanks for the advice

I myself am doing a similar build. 3 lifters went bad and gawded my cam lobes. My TFS 215cc's aren't milled so I'm going bigger on my cam with all new parts. Hoping for 460-ish after a tune. Doing it all in the driveway to save me some cash as well.

For under a grand you can get a fast and tb with a retune and get a nice gain for minimal down time and cost. They are both a simple bolt on that can be ran without a tune for an amt of time till funds come to tune the new setup.

That's a great street cam. Leave it be, with a larger cam you may have misfires at higher rpms due to up'ed compression. Ask me how I know!! Ballance everythging out with some 390's or 410's and call it a day.

I think you should put a 278/294@.050 in it with a 6500 rpm converter. She oughta run then.

With a good toon, it should drive like stock.

edit...........Forgot one......

dyno numbers.......... overrated... what does it run at the track!!!!

cause if your going low 11's with that setup you can be happy....

Yea Ed lets throw a 6500 converter in it Ed you been drinking again ? right now with the stock stall it runs 11.60s @ 119 mph i would like to put a 3600 yankss in it and a little larger cam , and maybe a fast 90 on it and maybe run low 11s, Ed i thought you are in Europe?
Oh and im already running 3.73 gears

I think if you put the Yank in you will be happy...... that will put you where you need to be.... as far as getting 10HP this way or that way really up to you. I'm a fan of the FAST intake once you have done H/C then it makes sense. cause its not that it makes much more power it makes better power across the powerband

I run the AFR cam with similar specifications and milled AFR's to an equivalent of 60cc chambers. I am tight on the intake PTV clearance (under recommended minimums) so if you go larger it would be a safe guess that fly cutting will be required. If you are happy with the way it runs, I would think the stall would be a great next step.

Thanks for all of the input guys, The car runs very very well , no problems ever,my tuner is the best around here so good in fact he goes to Europe and China to tune cars,i guess like others have said since im only running stock ls6 intake and stock ls1 T.B ,stock ls1 injectors and stock stall , then those 3 things would be the natural next projects to finish what otherwise is a very good setup, heres my dyno sheet for anyone interested...
