I went to the track last night and didnt do what I feel should have been WAAAYY better.
I started off the night at 13.5xx then worked my way up to a 14.5xx then had a semi better run at a 13.03x.
This was my first time at the track and a couple of those higher numbers I screwed up.
I did start with both no revving and then revving probably to about 3000 or so before the green light. And when I did rev it up to try and build I guess a little bit of boost I had trouble getting it to shift into 2nd. I have heard some about these cars having bad issues with the clutch sticking to the dang floor if you revved it to high for to long.
Also it was pretty close to 230 degrees the whole time.
And pressure was about 28. Are these normal?
Alot of the people there were saying that some slicks would help.
It is a stock internals 98 coupe with a Carrol supercharger on it and I believe it has a Z06 clutch and suspension. A B&B exhaust(sorry dont know which one). And I thnk that is it.
When you guys run yours do you have any traction controls selected? I did it both on and off. But I seem to remember something about there being a 3rd option. Dont know if that helps.
What in the world else besides the obvious of getting aquinted with the strip driving is there? Could something be wrong with the car?
I know I should be running better... maybe it was just 1st timers idiocy..
What do you guys suggest/think?
Thanks for the input,
Robert

MPH ran from 101 to 110 and it's funny my fastest time wasnt my best speed. It was 108. And my 60' ran from 1.96 to 2.8xx. My best 60' was my worst time.
So I guess I need alot more practice but just didn't know if it was all me. I didn't feel like I did that bad a couple of them.
Wow Thats a wide range of mph .2.8 is awful lol. I suggest getting drag radials and then going again. Fwiw i trapped 115mph with My 2001 z06 with vararam
Any brand suggestions? Nitto, MT, BFG, Hoosier, etc..
M/t 275/40/17 are great....I used them at 400 hp level all the ways up to 750hp....they work great.....I've read the Hoosiers are a little stickier but don't last as long
You need to be on the fast list then. That is the exception to the rule.
I was going to list those times on there. but cant figure out how to post my time slip, going to union grove drag strip on fri, hopfully I can run low and not bust anything, last year with stock tires ran best 12.7, this year with the DRs best was 12.197, tires make a big differance.
nittos?? hmmm i have only ever used the 555's but those were on a show truck. i smoked the hell out of those and it was like i didnt do anything to them i might check those out as well.
You need tires and seat time. My 02 Z with Vararam and E/T streets was running consistent 11.8's with a couple bests of 11.6's.
In comparison I sold my last Z picked up another 02 Z with a procharger and attempted going to the strip with my 305/30/19 PS2's with 500rwhp and I the best 60' I could muster up was like a 2.8 with an E/T of 13.1 @ 118 or something rediculous.

Wow.. You just made me feel slightly better. Haha I will invest in some drag radials for sure now.
When launching in the new one what are your rpms at? Roughly...
When I tried from nothing it felt liked it bogged down.
When I revved around 3000-4000 the clutch would stick and I couldnt get it into 2nd. And stinks like a sob I know cause I burned it up. It only did it when I revved before launching.
