I had a set of wore out 18''nitto drag radials on my 03 z06. The best 60 ft i got was a 1.72 slipping the clutch. Now i bought a set of mt et drag radials now i can not get it to hook taking off ,it ran a 1.87 60 ft.What is the best way to get them to hook.I had 18 lbs air.Do i need to do a little burnout or really get them hot
I've tried both the Nittos and the MTs, find I can hook better with the Mickeys, as long as I do a long burnout and get them really hot.....my car can't seem to hook with Nittos regardless ..... I find 19 - 20 PSI works best for me.....
One guy at the track is telling me to go down to 8lbs he has a street car he drives to the track, leaving the line with front wheels up about 3 feet at 6.25 1/8 .Then there is another guy there saying 26lbs he also has a fast car. Some people telling me nitto has got to have a lot of heat and the mt not much. When i am do a burn out with mt after a couple seconds it starts spinning like it is in the water.

1. He does not have a Vette doing that.
2. DRs are not meant to be run at that low a pressure. That is even a little low for slicks IMHO.

Correct, that guy is running a full slick and wrinkling the sidewalls as he's staging. Those Mickey's should be DEAD hooking if your Nittos were getting good traction. Heat cycle them pretty good. If they are brand new, they just need that film rubbed off.
17 psi for me. Just as soon as you see the smoke coming off the tires - it is enough. The little dry cherps are not necessary. Roll'em over in the water box; pull up a few feet and burnout to see smoke and pull up to the line. I've tried Nitto 555 and Invos and both are no good for me. Some people swear by them, but you switch from Nittos to MT's and you will know the difference in hook.
The guy has a lx mustang running a 1.36 60 ft. I smoked them good but still spins thur first gear. My car run a 1.70 60 ft on nittos and a 1.87 on mt drag radials .I slip the clutch a little coming out but when i release full clutch pedal it go to spinning the mt. Am i getting the tires to hot in the burnout.Car run 7.50 at 95 mph 1/8
i once had d/r mickeys and ran them at a low off 14 lbs they had me roaming around on launch. the lowest i would run after that was `18lbs and never another problem like that . smoke the mickeys real well also
I was cutting 1.9's on Invo's in my stock Z, with E/T Streets pressure down to 17-18psi burnout for a bout 10 seconds nice and hot, launch at 6K I cut consistent 1.6's.
What are you launching at? You could be bogging of the line.

I tried 3 different ways any where from 4000-5000 rpm slipping the clutch a few feet but as soon as i release the clutch all the way it starts spinning.Car has never bogged. What feels weird when i am doing a burnout when tires start smoking all of a sudden it starts spinning like i am in the water.
