I have a 1997 C5, cold air, LS2 intake and fuel rails, (92mm theottle body), Texas speed long tube headers into borla true dual, I have a mild tune and I'm pushing 340 to the wheels, any suggestions as far as heads and cams go? I was compensating on an LS6 conversion or possibly even an ls7.. But what's more bang for the buck? 😕 Thank you!
Kind of depends on your goals, budget, how far into the engine you want to go, are you going to change the gear and/or converter, what are you going to use the car for mainly ... ??? Lots of variables.
I'm going to assume that you're wanting to leave the stock short block and that it's going to be a "spirited" daily driver. I would say the best bang for your buck is to go the route we are. After a lot of research, phone calls, internet reading, etc. ... pick up a set of 243s and have them sent to Phil at Advanced Induction for their CNC work and valve job. Call Martin at Tick Performance for a cam. With proper tuning and after you add in the head gaskets, bolts, etc. you still should be under $2K (if you do the work yourself) and could easily make 450 to the wheels and have a fun street car!
