I've heard nothing but good things about the FAST EFI system. That said, if I was going to go with a stand alone controller, I'd use the Holley EFI system. I think the support is better and it has greater flexibility with the various add ons.
I know some have wired the holley system into the existing PCM, so all the normal car functions work, and the holley controls the engine. That's the **** right there.
I do not believe the fast system will control DBW. Nor can it handle 2 WB, or 8 EGTs.
The base Holley system won't either, but the dominator system will. Of course, it's about $2800 (or more) once you pick all the features you want to use.
Holley Dom system has so many advantages.....and yes you can "piggyback" it to the factory ECU (as to allow gauge cluster,HUD..etc operations).
But the biggest advantage IMO is.......Holley and Davis Tech collaborating on a plug-in play traction box...and that folks...is a huge plus. Self learn, or non-self, adjustments made with-in 1/8th of a driveshaft revolution.
Dennis @ Moore racecraft in NJ is the man to see, he worked with Holley on developing this product.
The head got beat up some and was not sure on the block so I just bought the LSX454 figuring it would be quicker to get installed vs tearing engine out and apart, sending to machine shop etc etc. I should have bought Robz's destroked 388 and had his buddy install.
I'm in Honduras again but will be back to FL again pretty soon. I'll check out the short block
