no thats not your optimal shift point, optimal shift point is when there is more torque in the next gear than the point your are at. To find it you need to look at a dyno sheet and gear ratios.
All dyno graphs will cross at that point (assuming the right measurements and equal scale is used) as HP = TQ X RPM / 5xxx (cant remember the number but its the point where they cross)
According to a recent article in Chevy High Performance, the optimal shift point is where the HP or RWTq in your current gear equals the HP or RWTq in the next gear. On the charts in the article, they pointed out that the rear wheel torque and hp cross points are the same. It's in the July issue, I think, if your interested.
