Default TT Shift Point

I know there is another thread on this subject, but I can't open it for some reason.

On a Twin Turb, the TQ and HP curves cross at about 5500rpm (hp going up and TQ going down). Is that the optimal shift point?

Thanks for the discussion.

Cam shaft? etc..

My shift light is at 5500 and I drive thru it thru the traps.
Short shift 1-2 will help also...

no thats not your optimal shift point, optimal shift point is when there is more torque in the next gear than the point your are at. To find it you need to look at a dyno sheet and gear ratios.

All dyno graphs will cross at that point (assuming the right measurements and equal scale is used) as HP = TQ X RPM / 5xxx (cant remember the number but its the point where they cross)

According to a recent article in Chevy High Performance, the optimal shift point is where the HP or RWTq in your current gear equals the HP or RWTq in the next gear. On the charts in the article, they pointed out that the rear wheel torque and hp cross points are the same. It's in the July issue, I think, if your interested. There's also an interesting article about different intake manifolds on the LS1.

Good luck.
