Before #'s were 325hp/345tq with Vararam and Z06 cat back,LS1 Edit tuned
Just swapped in Kook 1 7/8 longtubes and there 3" X pipe without Cats and made 345hp/365tq with A/F at 12.3-1 across the board.
Gained power everywhere.
Car started at 308hp/330tq stock
LS1 edit tuned and Vararam =325hp/345tq
add Kooks with no more tuning= 345hp/365tq
Dyno runs were on different days but with engine at full temp(180-190) and 3 back to back runs.No freaky high # run

Kooks How does the car sound now? I know I was very surprized how good it sounded when I got it back with the Kooks and 3" intermediate with "x" pipe.
The car is actually still very quiet with no interior resinance which is exactly what I wanted.Already own big H/C open exhaust cars,so this car is staying quiet.

I might be missing something here. It appears as though you ran your original dyno through cats. Then we see a dyno with the "kooks" and also no cats which should be good for an immediate 10 hp or so increase.
Was the original dyno run with or without cats?

Your actually not missing anything.Of course the original dyno was with stock exhaust with stock Cats.I really don't think running the Kook cats will take out 10hp on a stock car.If I wanted to throw big #'s out,I would cool the car down and lean it out. That is easilly another 15rwhp.Instead I just hot pulled over and over till the temp hit 230 degree's with a 160 T-stat

I wasn't knocking your gains, it's great to see increases that justify the cash spent.
Just wondered what the difference would have been with cats after Kooks. I thought cats were good for about 10 ponies.
I've been wanting to gut mine out, just not sure how difficult it is or if it's worth the extra noise.
The cats off should be 10rw anyway and that means only 10rwhp gained with the kooks, additional tuning should bring out a good bit more, but it seems you have basically a bolt on car with 1 7/8" which is probably not optimal with a basically stock motor but the more you add to you motor the more power you will realize from a 1 7/8" header--I probably would have used 1 3/4" unless I planned on going nuts later which of course I did and everyone else does as well--bottom line you have a system that will grow with you--

The 1 7/8's are there because now there is a blower on the car
You guy's need to relieze these are only dyno #'s which mean absolutely nothing on the street. That 12.3 A/F on the dyno was actually 13-1 on the street(I have a wideband). So if I tuned it to a better dyno # with the typical 13.2-1 the car would be too lean on the street and KR would knock down the HP
I went from 308.7 RWHP ON 99 A4 installed Kooks 1 3/4, cats x-pipe,Vararam and a tune. Results......321.5 rwhp  So gaining 10 rwhp with just having no cats, I think is true.

Blower now? Niiiiiiiiice... That should get ya down the freeway at a brisk pace!
