I am considering headers for my 99 C5 A4. It sounds like the LG long headers and free flow cats are the way to go. The group purchase makes an even better deal. Before I decide, has anyone had any issues with fit/finish/performance etc that I should consider? Also, if you have any other suggetions, I would welcome them. I want to be able to have them installed and then forget about them and just enjoy the increased HP. I was hoping to get 20+ HP from them without having to do any tuning. Is this realistic? Thanks for all your help!!!
got them for my 98,, the only pain is the early years and the pass side air tube,,you need to remove the intake or cut and couple the new to the old. They do supply the new tube. I have no regrets,,,great fit, look killer and sour friggin fantastic....DO IT
I had LG Pro LT headers installed back in Feb. No regrets and not one problem and they sound incredible with Stingers, I love these headers! Most folks run a little rich after the install while a few run a little lean (like me). You don't have to get a tune but it would probably be a good idea sometime down the road. Besides, you'll probably pickup a few more HP after a tune.
Heres my dyno before and after the install. Not bad gains for just headers (this is prior to the CAM install).

You will love the LG headers. They make great power and are the best header on the market for the c5's. If you are interested give us a call, we have a corvetteforum special going on with them right now.
I too can offer nothing but praise for Lou and his L.G. Motorsports Long-Tube headers.
I put them on my Z06 in April, along with Crane 1.82:1 aluminum rocker arms, springs, and titanium retainers. The combination generated an additional 44 RWHP.
For those who have installed LG LT headers, do they hang down lower than stock pipes and if so, how much? Also, I have read several threads on install problems. Any tips/suggestions you can pass on would be appreciated.

Ron they do hang down lower, but I remember reading a post by Lou (at LGM) about how far they hang down and as I recall they were no worse than most and better than some. Do a search for LGM LT headers, you should pull up a lot of good info.
I elected to have my headers installed by the LGM. Partly to bypass any potiental problems but also I wanted to get the car tuned too.
I want the LG Motorsports headers but not if they hang lower than the stock Z06 system. I will look over the previous posts regarding the fit of headers. It is a nice power increase from headers and rocker arms. almost like adding heads alone.
Well, there is a recent post on Kooks in the tech section and they hang down 1" below the pan of the body. The description of the installation is scary enough for me to scratch Kooks off my list. LG's are still under consideration for me and I am glad to see all this positive information. Did anyone have any issues with codes after their installation? I know the LG's seemed to have quite a few complaints about this last winter, but it has been pretty quiet since so I am wondering if the installation has been debugged since then.
I installed mine back in Dec 03 and with RT high flow cats and X-pipe. 1 gripe I have is the cats are 3" and the headers have merge collecters that are 2.5" so there is a bit of a gap and the funky steel straps supplied don't seem to completely stop the leaking noise. I have had LGM send me the new style clamps, but I still have the same problem. Anyone else get a 2.5" merge collector header? If so how do you deal with getting it to seal w/o leaks to the 3" RT cats?

There are some O2 codes that must be disabled or you will throw them. They don't hurt anything, just annoying.
I've got the LG's on my '99 (no cats). Picked up approx 30 rwhp with the system after dyno-tuning.
Had the rear O2 sensors edited out with LS1 edit.
I strongly suggest tuning after the install to gain max performance. You will notice the difference.

Ron,
The only issue that I have is that the headers rub the steering shaft.
cut the inlet side of the cats at 90 degree intervals, 1 inch long cuts into the flange. this allows the clamp to compress the cat flange onto the x-pipe.
