Just my opinion, if I understand what you are doing, would be no. Since you are in the process of rebuilding, I would want to get the car running first with no codes before going to a non-stock situation that might produce some codes. May get messy figuring things out later.

I would get them put on.....

LG's are best, but pricy...TPIS and Dynatech and Kooks are all good.
Depending on your exhaust, it can or will not be too loud.

Friend of mine has TPIS, no cats, x-pipe and B&B's and I could not tell he had headers....was quieter than my borla stingers w/ exhaust manifold, cats and stock h-pipe (have stage1 H/C package)....

Yes, I think headers are a worthy mod as well, get some Kooks long tube headers, a thermostat (with the fan settings changed via LS1 Edit) and maybe a Vararam in there, you will certainly feel the difference.

I agree! Long Tubes are worth the money. I prefer the Kooks because of the fit, quality, performance, and price. The LG probably make a couple more HP, but are twice the price. I got a new set of Kooks for $700.

Another vote to get them now. I've got TPIS longtubes are they look/sound great. Ran a 12.1 with them. If I was going to buy again I'd try the Kooks this time. Good luck finishing her up.

You may want to look at the QTP headers from Quick Time Performance of Ramsey N.J.
Out of the box, with no tune and the computer still wondering what was going on,I dyno'd a 32.8 hp increase at 4 grand. Torque increase was also in the 30's.
Compared to other systems they were easy to install and NO CODES on my 6 speed 04.
Checkout QTP's web site at www.QuickTimePerformace.com.

LG Headers are on sale now for $1395 and that includes the complete system from the engine to the connection at the mufflers. It is all 304 Stainless steel and it is a full 3" system. They also include the race style Merge collector that we have used on all of our race cars.

But when you compare the complete system to any other header with a Complete system, and add the Merge collector, and also the fact that no other system is a full 3" stainless system there is no other choice.

But then I am biased.

Call and mention the sale price and the sales people will varify that price with me. Add $399 for full 3" Random Tech Metal Matrix Cats. these cats are the best available to date.

Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

Default headers??

I've just added a set of LPE long tube headers (really B&B) and a Corsa X-Pipe to my existing Borla Stinger Quad tip set up and talk about waking up a giant killer! This is an otherwise stock (last time I'll use that term now) '03 Z06. In comp driving mode the tires break in three gears, from a roll I can break them in 1st and 2nd.

Sound quality improved, it is actually quieter at idle than before with the Borlas. At WOT it has a full on attack exhaust note, very mean sounding. But cruising in 4th or 5th you's hardly know there are headers on it. LPE had these on special recently for $765.

I'm very happy with adding the B&B long tube headers and the x-pipe!
Now about stopping to top off the tank constantly...

I would go ahead and add the long tube headers while it would be easy to install.

I have the FLP long tubes but I would go with LG's, they are by far the best headers on the market.

Darwin.

Oh they are? By far even? Well I guess they must be, because the seller and the advertisements even say so.

I saw this too and wondered how he came to this conclusion. Maybe its the neat photos of the headers and pipes in the ads.

The headers are all about the same on quality, build and h.p. returns(20-21 h.p. on ZO6).. LG's, Kooks or Dynotech. Get the high flow cats. Use the stock Z06 titanium exhaust.

Disclosure. I have the Kooks 1 7/8" for my big cube motor. If I went with the 1 3/4" it would have been toss up between the three above.

I have the Kook's and they are great. Excellent fit and finish. Although I have dyno'ed my car, I can definately tell the difference.
