I have the Vararam and it works mainly because it is a cold air system unlike the Blackwing. The cooler the air your engine breaths the more HP it will make. However as with any cold air system you run a greater risk of water ingestion.

I think you'd have to about drive nose down into a puddle to have problems there. I've driven in atleast 3 insane downpours with my VR and had no problems at all.
It works, I am not a great believer in ram air effect but I do think getting air from outside the engine bay is the vararams best feature. I would not worry about the water unless you are driving in standing water. Also the filters for the vararam are somewhat flimsy, reccommend a K&N replacement. Good for at least two tenths in the qtr mile ET.
I know that the Vararam is supposed to give you extra hp when the car is moving, but what have you guys with the Vararam seen on the dyno over the stock airbox?

A friend of mine with an auto 04 vette went to the track after installing it, and proved that you actually lose 3 to 4 10ths off your 1/4mile time. he is a shop owner up north (www.precisiontuning.com) and knows his stuff. if he says it works, it will definately be under the hood of my car.

Maybe wheelspin is now a problem. I know that my car pulls much harder from about 30 mph with the VR.
It is a pain in the butt but you can do it. After reading the terrible instructions I decided to have it installed by Speed Demon. The longer I watched them do the install the more I was glad I let them do it.
So the vararam doesnt come with the tube that connects to the throttle body, that would increase flow? if it doesnt, is there one that you suggest? and does it make a difference
