Default Checking up on the competition

I was over on the Viper board checking out some of the latest news on the competition. Looks like one of the Viper guys is calling out Stealth99C5...(check Page 2)

http://www.viperalley.com/showflat.p.../o/all/fpart/1

LPE has the vid of the run on their website

http://www.lingenfelter.com/LPEinmedia.asp

Looks like we need to step it up a bit!

Competition is always great, but they are still running big blocks.
With my lightly modded small block, I can keep up with the stock Vipers.
Those things also don't corner or brake very well from what I've read.
Seems like 2 different classes to me.

Verdict:
I'm still because I can take them in the twisties and keep up on the straights and for a lot less dough.

Yeah, if we could just find a way to reliabley stretch these engines out to 540 cube I'm surte we could do that too. Especially given the lower weight and better aero of the vette. But the Viper guys don't care about that when they beat you!

Just saw that Heffner's Performance has a twin Turbo viper going 8.88@164!! 1.42 60' with 131mph in the 8th, with IRS on a 10 inch tire. That thing is hauling some ***! Word has it that it has a sequentially shifted 6 speed.

I thought LPE didn't do Vipers anymore? Is this one of thier older cars finally getting the setup right?

Too bad this won't fit in a Vette.

I was at the track when Chad ( the owner ) made these runs in Bradenton last week. The 8.80 run was first run on track on Weds night.
Saturday they had the V10 Nationals and he ran consistant 8.55 to 8.57's @170 mph and yes this is with the 6 speed an 10" Hoosier slicks.
After races he bolted rear spoiler back on and drove it to restaurant.

Car is back at Heffners now as they said it had a lot more in it.

Met a bunch of the Tampa Bay Misfits there and I now know why thay are called Misfits. Had a great time.

Unfortunately your Nitrous would put you in the unlimited class with the TT car. That 9.98 was all motor. I heard he went 9.70 at the V10 Nats in Bradenton a couple of weeks ago. Incredible

The quickest six speed NA vette with IRS suspension that I could find on the net was a 10.15@139mph.

http://www2.lingenfelter.com/images/lpe1015zo6.wmv

And the quickest 6 speed turbo vette with IRS suspension (to my knowledge) is 9.45@152 by TurboZ06 here on the forum.

http://www2.lingenfelter.com/images/Kordis6spdtt.mpeg

Anybody know of anything faster with IRS suspension and a six speed?

I know the Vette Doctors backhalved car could give it a run but the viper guys would cry foul for sure since that car still has IRS with a six speed.

Hey Chris and Doug, have you guys finished that full boogie Procharger car of yours that I have been hearing all sorts of noise about?

He usually doesn't show at Corvette events, he likes to run in front of the Viper crowd. You know how it works Paul, call him out and he'll come

Jersey,
Nice of you to stop in and say hi the other day, I've seen your posts before but I did not realize you lived so close. Our F2 car is done but it has been put away till spring. As you know, with the temps here being 12 yesterday and 18 today, the car is just dangerous so in goes the vette and out comes my beater Jeep!

Stop back in when the weather warms up, the barbaque gets fired up around 12

Mike I am pretty sure he will be running the full www.v10nationals.com schedule and in addition, he is considering the American Super Car Challenge which will run in Cecile and in Numedia next year. There has been talk of allowing some Vettes to compete in one of their class as an exhibition so you might get that too.
