^~~^ The Corvette Kitty Pics Thread ^~~^
She was a tailless Tuxedo I got from a kill shelter - had her slightly less than 5 years as she was 8 months old when I got her, but based on her size, I'm betting she was younger than that. The kennel card had her listed as "Not Friendly" & she was at the very back of the cage, trying to find a way out in the upper rear corner. The gal at the shelter said she was friendly before they sent her to be spayed, & when she came back she had changed.
I've read online that a lot of folks think if the vet doesn't put them under far enough when spaying, they're aware of what's going on & really get freaked out - I'm wondering if this is what may have happened to her?
She took my Calico under her wing & raised her as if her own - somewhere down the road she got aggressive towards other cats - my other 3 gave her a wide berth.
She was my guard dog - I often saw her "walking the perimeter" around the back yard fence & she made sure no strange animals tread on her turf.
She was also a real talker, but I rarely knew what she was saying or wanted!

Mia & Mya - she raised the Calico as if it were her own
Today the neighbor across the street asked me if the black cat sleeping on his back porch was mine (Tabasco was inside) - I have Mia (Calico) on camera (I happened to be watching TV when the camera tripped) @ 4am a few days ago chasing what looks like a black cat across the front yard, across the street, and into the neighbor's back yard. Went to check out the cat on his porch, but he had moved - caught him climbing the chain link fence in his back yard.
I'd be willing to bet Mya was chasing the same cat when she was killed - she was street smart enough to not get hit, but when a cat gets fixated on a target (especially Mya) she probably wasn't aware of a vehicle while she was in pursuit.
Anywho...it took Mia a few days to realize Mya wasn't around any longer, and darn if I don't think she was showing signs of depression.
She spent the next few days sleeping next to me and didn't go out of the house for 3 days - she also spent an unusual amount of time looking out the bedroom window (waiting on Mya to appear?).
