^~~^ The Corvette Kitty Pics Thread ^~~^

Did a lot of detective work on this little fellow:
1. Took to vet to scan for microchip, but pix & info didn't match.
2. Contacted owner shown on microchip site - it was his sister - adoption group swapped microchip cards during adoption.
His sister's owner took their cat to the vet, scanned chip, & had information corrected online.
3. With info provided by his sister's owner, tracked down the agency, when & where he was adopted, & a little about him.
4. Took printout of microchip info to his owner's house & told them they need to register him, but they never did.
Poor fellow was failed by the system - dealing with me, his owner (that didn't seem to show any interest), & the adoption agency, that wanted me to kidnap the cat for them.
Anywho, I was going to schedule a full medical for him after the new year (legally, nobody would give me his medical records) & work towards adopting him should nothing legal get in the way.
Unfortunately, he was killed by a car Christmas Eve - I have him on camera in my fenced back yard @ 7:45 pm, but he didn't come in for the night - found him 2 days later about half way up a neighbor's yard.
I know he had a rough beginning, & was blind in one eye due to severe upper respiratory infection.
It's going to be rough every Christmas Eve going forward as I'll no doubt think about him - it was impossible to not be endeared by him due to his personality (he was a hugger & kisser).
Rest in peace Tabasco - he died way too young (15 months old).

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Shadow (Russian Blue) and Mitzy (American Shorthair). Shad is 2, Mitz is 8.
Mitz is the baddest declawed cat you'd ever meet, yet can be very cuddly and gentle, esp with my wife. She was "raised" by our beagle, Fritz, who's been gone a couple years now, so she acts like a dog in many cases.
Shad, though, is the friendliest cat Ive ever had and my lil' buddy. Got her a couple months after Fritz passed. Always wanted a Russian Blue, and she just happened to be available at that time.
This is typical of Mitz with my wife in the evening.....
Then there's Arrow, our "grandcat". She's our daughter's. Is nervous and anxious as all heck, but can be sweet if she wants to be. Really likes guys over girls.

Rip, was a good cat for his two years with us.

Don't know why that one hit me so hard - maybe because it was a perfect storm of not really being able to help him like I wanted (he was a neighbor's cat), the system failed him (I gave the adoption agency the address if they wanted to pick up the cat, but "they don't do that"), he had a rough start (barely made it & blind in one eye due to severe URI), & the little sucker really ingrained himself (he was a hugger, kisser, & real talker)!
Not much going on over the holidays, so I drove to the kill shelter where I've adopted 2 from in the past just to browse - holding some of the kittens helped quite a bit, but darn if they didn't have a kitten that was Tabasco reincarnated!
A hugger & kisser, but not enough of a voice to be much of a talker - she can barely get a meow out!
Anywho - had to name her Tabasco in honor of the one that was killed.
Looks a little mean in the photo (just woke up) - 99% of the time she's got that wide eyed look of a kitten taking everything in.

Your cat was Chewy? How coincidental! We had "Chewbie" for 13 years, (named by our son's niece when she was about 3, and when she got older she had no idea how she came up with that name). Started out to be our son's cat but wound up mine, followed me around like a puppy his whole life. My wife could always tell which door I went out of the house through, the cat would be sitting there waiting for me. Somehow had an amazing bond with our grandson who is on the Autism spectrum. Playful but very patient, even allowed me to put a C-4 cap on his head for pics! We lost him in 2020, he had been 17 pounds when younger, but at the end was down to 7.
