I am not really sure on guessing their age but as Drew said it is a red tail. This one, a different one was sitting on my neighrbors solar panels, I just love the coloring in his wing feathers.

The north east should be jumping with hawks right now as we are in the middle of migration. I am hoping to spot a golden eagle next month as they are usually late to the party! I am also looking forward to the short eared owls and possibly snowy owls if it gets cold enough this winter.
