With the warmer than normal weather this winter we haven't seen any Snowy Owls yet. Hopefully we will get a few weeks in February cold enough to bring the juveniles to this side of Lake Erie....... Enjoy this Image from a few years ago.
The local birdseed store where I get my seed and suet just made me a barter: $65 worth of suet in return for their use of this photo on two in-store posters. Win-win, especially for the birds.
I came home one day this week and I had this guy under my bird feeder. His mate was with him but I didn’t get a good shot of her. Canon R5 with a 400mmf4 DOii.
Storms build in the east as the Tawny eagle perched upon a dead tree brings his attention to the western planes. The photo was taken in late afternoon golden sunlight. Batswana

We've lived in our house for 18 years and never had the birds we've had this Winter. There is so much snow at elevation that many birds have come down, just like the deer, elk and others. The rarest for me is the Lewis's Woodpecker, I'd never seen one before and had a hard time identifying.
While photographing the woodpecker some Bluebirds and Steller's Jays were scavenging, just had to turn the tripod a bit:
A Male & Female Wood Duck, love shooting these but they are very skittish here. Their colors are amazing.
Male & Female shot with Nikon D2X body, 500/4 lens with 1.4 converter.
Male - 1/1600 @ F4, 400 ISO.
Northern Barred Owl. I've been looking for this guy for 2 weeks now, on a tip from a friend. This opportunity was last night, too bad there were branches in the way.

This one started zooming in on me, while I was doing some work out in the yard. Best pic I could get of it, since it was aggressively in my face. There's likely a nest nearby.
