I have a 98 c5 replaced the battery on my remote and tried to resync it using the dic when I get the the un+lock button hold down together on the fob screen it wont do anything. I got to do something because it makes me nervous not having a alarm on my car and annoying having to use the key everytime. passive not working either. the remote does have a little rattle in it I took it apart to see if anything is loose but didnt see anything.
Interesting...I have the same problem. But replacing the battery and resyncing it worked...although whenever the fob is near the car, the horn honks once every 15 seconds or so. Kinda annoying. I'm not sure how to fix it either...

You should try sliding the passive switch on and off several times. Pocket dust seems to get in there or whatever, causes it to turn the passive function on.
Is that the original remote for your 98?
If you've tried everything and it still won't work usually buying a new one will solve your problem.
One other thing, make sure your car battery is fully charged. It can affect the remote programming.
I just bought a brand new one & it still won't work. I'm hoping to find someone with a known good one & borrow it & try to resync. I would hate to buy another new one & find out I have other problems.
its got to be the remote cause I went to a local auto shop and they have a remote tester and it came nothing. looks like ill be buying a new remote. I looked at the link I didnt see it listed. anyone know what he changes?
replaced the battery and nothing I soldered it and it works now but only a distance of two feet or closer to the car. im going crazy. I tried to resync the remote and held it for the 15 second and it never showed it was sync but locked the doors hahaha its wild
I'm working on a 2000 FRC & the DIC won't go into the learn mode... It gets to the Tire Learn & when you press options again to get to Remote it doesn't do anything. I went ahead & even trained the tire monitors to see if it might step forward on its own but didnt. I even pulled the remote box & checked the connectors... all appears fine. I also tried using a tech 2 but that isn't needed until 2001.
I followed the step above. Everything went according to plan, the message center said FOB was programed, but when I tested FOB it still didnt do anything.
